Exciting news! In October 2015 I’ll lead a thrilling
12-day “Heart of Colombia” tour as Guest of Honor in the second of
Motolombia’s ‘Motorcycle Legends’ tour series. In 2010 and 2011, I spent five months exploring virtually every inch of Colombia while researching the country on assignment for National Geographic. The result was the
National Geographic Traveler Colombia guidebook, which I wrote and photographed.
While in Cali, I met Mikkel Thomsen, who as owner of Motolombia has been offering guided motorcycle tours and rentals in Colombia since 2008. He’d read my award-winning literary travelog Mi Moto Fidel: Motorcycling Through Castro’s Cuba (National Geographic Adventure Press). We became friends.
In 2014, Mikkel initiated the ‘Motorcycle Legends Tours’ using ‘Guests of Honor’ as tour leaders. Mikkel kicked off with one of the most famous motorcycle travelers in the world: Ted Simon (author of Jupiters Travels and Dreaming of Jupiter) on the 40 year anniversary of him riding through Colombia on the first of his two around-the-world tours by motorcycle.
I’m proud to have been invited as Guest of Honor to lead the second ‘Motorcycle Legends Tour’ of Colombia.
JOIN ME on a special 12-day tour of Colombia, October 7-18, 2015!
